Dominic Fitzpatrick

Dominic Fitzpatrick describes his involvement in football in his native Down, as well as in Tyrone and Fermanagh, where he also lived. He recalls playing soccer as a child and while he was in college in Wales. He describes playing football with Bryansford GAA Club and with St. Mary's GAA Club in Newcastle, and he outlines the history of those clubs. In addition, Dominic discusses his simultaneous membership of multiple GAA clubs in the North. He reflects on representing Down as a sub on the 1953 minor football team and explains how recurring knee injuries ended his playing career. Finally, he considers the impact of The Troubles on the GAA and his views on the separation of GAA and politics.
