Liam Mulvihill

In this, the first of two interviews, Liam talks about his childhood growing up in Kenagh, Co. Longford. He talks about family life, the GAA tradition within his family and about the place of Gaelic games in life in Kenagh and Ballymahon. He outlines the place of Gaelic games in school life and in college life, reflecting on his experiences in both St. Mel’s and St Patrick’s College Drumcondra. He describes life as a young teacher in Ballinacarrigy and as a school’s inspector for the Department of Education. He outlines his involvement as a player and administrator in the GAA throughout his life and the various characters he met along the way. The interview ends in the opening years of his role as Director General of the GAA.
